476 online platforms dedicated to the fall of APC, according to Mohammed | The Guardian Nigeria News
Yesterday, Information, Culture and Tourism Minister Lai Mohammed said the federal government had identified around 476 online platforms dedicated to the downfall of the Congress of Progressives (APC).
The minister said this in Lagos at a meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum for Information Managers in the APC-led government at federal and state levels across Nigeria.
Mohammed, who spoke of “Mitigating Contemporary Challenges in Information and Communication Management,” said the most difficult task anyone can undertake at this time and time is managing the information and communication.
The Minister noted that in addition to the challenge of funds, information managers are also facing challenges posed by new information and digital technologies.
He said that taking advantage of new information and digital technologies would undoubtedly facilitate the work of information managers: âThe multiplicity, immediacy and ubiquity of information dissemination platforms means that we can reach more people much faster. Normally this should be a good thing. But when you remember that those who go out of their way to distort the information you broadcast also have access to the same technology, you will realize the meaning of the technology paradox that I spoke about earlier.
Also speaking, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the job of government information managers as difficult.
He added that the proper framework for government communication is the foundation of all governance.
According to him, the challenge that many members of the government face is the inability to communicate well with the population, which leaves room for crisis and disinformation.
Sanwo-Olu said the government’s task is to resolve the crisis, promising that the APC government at federal and state levels is ready to take the necessary steps to resolve any communication issues.
