Automotive MCU for EV Platform System Integration

STMicroelectronics has unveiled the new Stellar P6 automotive microcontroller for electric vehicle platform system integration, targeting upcoming electrified transmissions and field-oriented over-the-air update systems that form the basis for the next generation of vehicles electrical. As vehicles generate, process and transfer large streams of data, especially to support the next generation of electric vehicles, ST’s new Stellar P automotive microcontrollers are the industry’s first qualifying devices for vehicles in the model year 2024 to integrate the new CAN-XL on-board communication. Standard. This technology allows new vehicle platforms to handle increasing data streams so the car can operate at peak performance.

“The real-time, energy-efficient Stellar P6 automotive microcontrollers combine advanced integration of motion control and energy management domains with actuation capabilities, ensuring a smooth transition from traditional ICE/EVs to new designs. software-defined vehicle drive-traction architectures.”, said Luca Rodeschini, Vice President Automotive and Discreet, Strategic Business Development and Automotive Processing and General Manager RF, STMicroelectronics. As the automotive industry begins work on new vehicle platforms for the 2024 model year, ST is ready with microcontrollers to support development and ease the transition to vehicle production.

The Stellar family of ST automotive microcontrollers for electric vehicles

ST’s Stellar family of automotive microcontrollers was designed to support automotive and Tier 1 manufacturers in their transition to software-defined vehicles. Stellar now includes several series:

  • Stellar E Series provides fast real-time control and system miniaturization in power conversion applications, maximizing the benefits of SiC and GaN power technology in electric vehicle on-board charging, DC-DC converters and traction inverters , among other applications.
  • Stellar G series microcontrollers act as a secure data HUB and a secure, real-time aggregator of functions in the body domain primarily for zonal architectures. This series implements the best OTA updates, low power modes and data routing over a wide range of in-vehicle communication protocols.
  • The new Stellar P series Automotive MCUs offers qualifying devices that combine advanced actuation capabilities with powerful function integration. Stellar P devices target new drivetrain trends for electric vehicles and domain-oriented architectures, for the best real-time performance and energy management.

Stellar P6 samples are available now for model year 2024 vehicles. Contact your local ST sales office for pricing options and sample requests.
