New Delhi, May 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rajasthan will become a political hot spot in the current month as the country’s two largest parties – the BJP and Congress – are due to hold meetings in the desert state in view of the forthcoming elections to the Assembly.
While the Congress is to hold a two-day Chintan Shivir from May 13-15 in Udaipur to discuss how to improve its prospects, the BJP on May 20-21 will hold a meeting of national office members in Jaipur to strengthen the organization and prepare for the next elections in the state.
The two parties will also strategize for Assembly elections in nine states to be held in 2022 and 2023.
Sensing the desire of the BJP high command, BJP National Vice President and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje, began reconciliation efforts.
Although Raje’s top-down relationship with the party high command is well known, for the past month and a half she has been trying to improve ties.
During this period, she met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National Chairman JP Nadda and Union Minister and former party leader Nitin Gadkari and presented his point of view.
On March 24, Raje met with Prime Minister Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajasthan BJP official Arun Singh.
Raje, who had traveled to Dehradun to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, met Amit Shah at the airport.
On March 29, she met Nadda in the nation’s capital.
Now the question arises whether Raje’s efforts paid off? What does the BJP High Command in Rajasthan think. Will the BJP fight the polls by announcing a candidate for chief minister or under the collective leadership.
Speaking to IANS, a senior BJP leader currently said the party would try to stamp out widespread factionalism in the state unit. This is why, on April 19, Nadda had advised the workers of the party to fight united against the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot.
The meeting which lasted approximately four hours and 45 minutes at Nadda’s house was attended by National Secretary General, Organization, BL Santosh, Arun Singh, Raje, Party State Chairman Satish Poonia, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Arjun Ram Meghwal (both from the state), Secretary General of the State, Organization, Chandrashekhar, Leader of the Opposition in the Gulabchand Kataria Assembly, among other senior leaders.
The importance of Rajasthan to the BJP can be gauged by the fact that ahead of the party’s May 20-21 meeting, Nadda will visit the state for two days starting May 10.
Amit Shah will visit the tribal areas of the state this month while Arun Singh will pay a seven-day visit to the state.
Asked about the party’s strategy, the leader told IANS that Raje had served as chief minister and there is no doubt that she is a strong leader of the BJP and that is why the party has given her the important responsibility. , but as far as the chief ministerial face is concerned, it depends on the political situation of the concerned state.
It is said that most of the leaders of the saffron party are of the opinion that the elections are held under collective leadership. However, for the final decision and the announcement of the BJP on a chief ministerial face, it will have to wait until the polling dates draw closer.
