STATEN ISLAND, NY – The K Woods Foundation is holding its first-ever community center fundraiser and auction on September 30 at Li Greci’s Staaten, West Brighton.

The fundraiser, hosted by Kareem “Kay” Woods, a music entrepreneur and native of Staten Island, seeks to bring together a community to build a brand new space for the children who live in the Park Hill Houses in Clifton.

The event will include a cocktail, sit-down dinner, open bar and live music. A live auction will take place where guests can bid on various items.

The Park Hill Community Center, which Woods plans to build, will help educate, empower and benefit neighborhood youth.

“Human well-being is something we put a lot of emphasis on. We’re making sure we can help lead these new generations, from young men and women just starting out as parents to more experienced parents looking for more structure and stability, ”said Woods. “We, the community, don’t always have all the tools we need to really get by here, and sometimes the world makes the word ‘help’ seem demeaning. I am a husband and father myself and God knows I have asked more than once. Look: we are friends; we are neighbors; we are family. Let’s go where you need to go. We are here to help you.

The community center aims to create a healthy, united and engaged community. Woods posted on the GoFundMe page that he strongly believes this should be “a collaborative effort with the needs of other people at the forefront in order to make it happen.”

Those interested in participating are asked to purchase a “Standard Donation” ticket of $ 200, a “VIP Donation” of $ 500, or purchase a “Table of 10” for $ 1,800.

The standard donation will include a happy hour and a sit-down dinner with a premium open bar.

VIP Donation Tickets will include the same, with the addition of a VIP loot bag, exclusive seating, early access to auction items, and a $ 50 credit to use towards the sale. at auction.

“We’re just trying to bring different communities together and set the trend. If more of these kids started growing up together, maybe there would be less violence in our community, ”said Woods.

In the past, the K Woods Foundation has donated children’s toys and winter coats through partnerships with schools and local organizations. In addition, there were barbecues, swimming and other sporting events to help raise funds for the foundation.

Those looking to purchase tickets for the event can go to Eventbrite.com.

If you cannot attend, but still wish to donate to the K Woods Foundation, there is a GoFundMe page.
