RISD Arts Education named one of the best in Texas

The Texas Art Education Association named Richardson ISD a 2022 District of Distinction, placing RISD among the top 4% in arts education among districts in Texas.

“Richardson Independent School District has set high standards in promoting the visual arts, integrating the visual arts curriculum, encouraging creativity, community involvement and student growth” said Sandra Newton, president of TAEA’s Administration and Oversight Division. “It is a true testament to the skill, dedication and flexibility of Visual Arts Educators (RISD) that the quality of their programs continue to provide students with solid and comprehensive visual arts educational experiences.”

Only 59 school districts in Texas have achieved recognition out of more than 1,200 districts eligible to apply. RISD has met or exceeded criteria in 14 categories the association assesses, including membership, exhibitions and competitions, and community engagement in the visual arts through field experiences, community service and collaboration with other content areas.

Congratulations to RISD Director of Visual Arts Myron Stennett and the entire VAPK12 team. Together, we ART Better! #RISDBieves
