South Maui CPAC will meet for the first time to discuss updated community plan | News, Sports, Jobs

The South Maui Community Plan Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Lokelani Middle School cafeteria at 1401 Liloa Drive in Kihei, the county announced.

Committee members will be briefed on the community planning process and the proposed South Maui Community Plan, according to a county news release. They will also elect a president and a vice-president. The agenda will be posted the week before the meeting.

The event kicks off the next phase of the South Maui Community Plan Update process, which serves as a guiding document for the region’s growth in the years to come.

The Advisory Committee, made up of community volunteers, will review the document before it is forwarded to the Maui Planning Commission for review and finally to the Maui County Council.

All CPAC meetings are open to the public. A portion of the meeting will be set aside for public testimony on specific agenda items.

The draft plan has been updated to include land use maps, charts and images that were missing in a version released last month. The updated version can be viewed on the Urban Planning Department website “We’re South Maui” website at southmaui.wearemaui.org/ under the “Review of draft plan” tongue. A hard copy of the draft plan will also be available at the Kihei Public Library, the South Maui Residency District Office of the County Council, the Pacific Whale Foundation Mall and the NOAA Whale Sanctuary office.
